Friday Fun: Bicycle Animation

Katy Beveridge, a student of media, illustration and graphic design, created short animations using bicycle wheels. Part of her final year dissertation, Beveridge created the project as an attempt to understand how animation gets created.

The animation can only be seen if filmed with a video camera, Gizmodo explains. “To the naked eye, the intricate paper patterns attached to these bike wheels look like nothing but a blur when it’s in motion. But when filmed with a video camera, the limited frame rate reveals complex animations.”
