The Center for Sustainable Transport in Mexico (CTS-México), a member of the EMBARQ network (the producer of this blog), is hosting a Spanish-language webinar today at 3:30 p.m. CDT about  nationally financing climate change actions in Mexico.

CTS-México’s expert in international relations Gabriela Niño will speak on the topic of “Social Involvement in Mexico to Secure Funding for Climate Change.” She will discuss the process of how 13 civil society organizations advocated in 2010 for the Mexican government to assign 300 million pesos to climate change in the federal budget.

You can access the webinar by clicking here.

This webinar is the first of a series of activities organized by CTS-México in its role as moderator of the Community of Practice in Transport for the online social networking and information-sharing platform called Finanzas Carbono. The initiative promotes knowledge about carbon finance in Latin America and the Caribbean. It is supported by the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank  and the United Nations Environment Programme.

The next planned activity for the Community of Practice in Transport is a virtual talk about the “Integration of a BRT System into a Historic City Center,” using a case study of Metrobus Line 4 in Mexico City’s downtown. Background information about the project will be posted on the website and from Tuesday, November 1 to Friday, November 4, CTS-México transport expert and civil engineer Marco Priego will answer questions related to this project on the online discussion boards.

Don’t forget to visit Finanzas Carbono, especially the Community of Practice in Transport, to take advantage of all the information resources available.
